Almost April Fooled

Long ago it would seem I signed up for the A to Z blogging challenge (more here) which asks its participants to write 26 blog posts in the month of April, one per day, except Sundays, and to have the topics of those posts relate to the letter of the day.

April 1 is A -- and I almost screwed it up.

I'd forgotten about the challenge.  Or maybe it would be more precise to say I'd forgotten that it was almost April.

I'd love to ruminate on where the fuck March went, but today's meditation is on almost.  That nice try but not quite there adverb.

Like last night's musical episode of Grey's Anatomy.  Almost, guys.  Almost.

Like how my cat spends long minutes wiggling her butt thinking about jumping on to the counter and then gives a few false starts, finally jumps and only gets halfway to her goal height.  Almost, kitty.  Almost.

Like the students on campus who have decided it's spring and they must therefore go coat-less and/or wear flip-flops -- in spite of the forty degree weather.  We're almost there, buddy.  Just hang on a little bit longer.

March definitely went by too fast. It's my favorite month, and it's already gone! Though it was crappy and un-springlike, so I guess I should just hope April is better.

I'm always glad to see March in my rearview mirror. It's a cold, dreary month where I live and April usually at least has a chance of a few nice days.

Where the fuck *did* March go?

I haven't seen the Grey's episode yet - it will be my lunchtime viewing option today. I've got a theory it will just make me miss Buffy.

"Almost" is an excellent choice for your "a" word. Show your cat this. It will make her feel better.

"I've got a theory" hahaha!

Grey's took a slightly different approach than Buffy did with their musical episode. They still constructed a plot reason for the singing, but they used popular music instead of writing specifically for the show. Actually, the music they used stuck with the general feel of the Grey's Anatomy music because some (if not all) of it had been featured on previous shows!

Sara Ramirez anchors the whole episode -- without her on the cast, I don't think the episode would have been possible. Except having a Tony award-winner anchor the musical aspects also heightened my awareness of the gulf between her abilities and those of the rest of the cast -- which wasn't a factor in Buffy: Once More with Feeling.

So glad March is over. It is always the worst month, and one of the longest and busiest in my business. Onward and upward!

February is usually the month I find the most difficult. There's just no end in sight in February. But March ain't much better.

I really enjoyed your 'A' post. I did mine this morning. I think it will be tricky for me next week, though, since I'll have a different routine. It will be my spring break.

I watched Grey's. Sara Ramirez is the bomb. I've always liked her, and I knew she'd done musical theatre and received tons of praise for it, but wow. Not sure the episode worked on the whole, but I most definitely liked watching her perform.

Overall, I think the cast of Grey's is stronger than the show itself, if that makes sense.

I love the name of your blog! I'm just dropping by to meet a few of the other people doing the A to Z Blogging Challenge this year. It's going to be a fun month.
